Japan Refurbished Upright Piano
This piano was selected for our inventory only after meeting our strict A+ quality standards. Before refurbishment begins, every instrument is evaluated for structural integrity, tuning stability, cosmetic condition, and overall musical potential. The refurbishment was completed by a highly respected facility in Hamamatsu, Japan—the home of Yamaha and Kawai—where experienced technicians, including former factory-trained Yamaha and Kawai personnel, restore each piano to an exceptionally high standard of performance and reliability.
Cosmetic Restoration
- Cabinet finish overhaul, including wet sanding, polishing, and a multi-stage buffing process
- Keys professionally cleaned and buffed
- Brass hardware cleaned and polished
- Pedals polished and detailed
- New fallboard felts installed
- New cabinet bumpers, rubber stops, and protective cushions installed
- Plate, back structure, and internal components thoroughly cleaned and detailed
- Action cavity and internal compartments thoroughly cleaned
- Final cosmetic inspection and detailing prior to shipment
Mechanical Restoration & Regulation
- Comprehensive action disassembly, inspection, and servicing
- Hammer shaping and refinement
- Complete keyboard regulation to ensure proper key leveling, key dip, and touch consistency
- New key bushings installed throughout the keyboard
- New high-quality Japanese-made front rail and balance rail felt punchings
- Action regulation and performance adjustment
- Pedal system inspection and adjustment
- Worn action components replaced during refurbishment
- Quality-control inspection throughout the restoration process
- Multiple tunings during and after refurbishment
Final Preparation in Seattle
Once the piano arrives in Seattle, it undergoes a final round of inspection and preparation in our workshop. The action and keyboard regulation are carefully reviewed and refined where necessary to ensure consistent performance throughout the instrument. We then voice each piano to achieve the balanced, warm, and expressive tone that has become a hallmark of Seattle Piano Company's preparation process. This final refinement allows every instrument to perform at its highest potential before being offered for sale.
