Yamaha Piano Serial Number Lookup

Find the estimated age and manufacturing location of your Yamaha piano. Enter the serial number exactly as shown on the piano, including any letter prefix.

Serial numbers are typically found on the plate, frame, or rear of the piano.
On many Yamaha uprights, the serial number is stamped on the plate inside the top lid area, and sometimes also on the rear of the piano. On grands, it is typically found on the plate near the tuning pins. If the date result seems off, check the rear upper corner of the piano to see whether the same serial appears there with a factory prefix letter.

Yamaha used separate serial systems across different factories, so the prefix matters. Some non-Hamamatsu pianos may show only the numeric portion on the plate and the prefixed version on the rear of the piano.
