The Kawai K-400 is a 48-inch professional upright that combines the proven musical design of the K-300 with an elegant grand-style cabinet. Its elevated grand-style music rack places sheet music closer to eye level and provides ample support for oversized scores and teaching materials. A tapered solid-spruce soundboard, underfelted mahogany-core hammers, and extended bass-string length give the K-400 a warm, resonant tone with the projection and dynamic range required for serious home, studio, school, and institutional use.

Kawai’s Millennium III Upright Action uses ABS-Carbon components for responsive repetition, precise control, and excellent dimensional stability. Extended-length keys and die-cast aluminum action brackets further support consistent touch and regulation. The K-400 also features five back posts, double brass casters, a dual-hinged soft-fall fallboard, a muffler practice pedal, and a steel-reinforced keyslip and keybed. Its combination of professional performance and grand-inspired furniture design makes it one of the most distinctive models in the K Series.
